Howard Winchester Hawks was born in Goshen, Indiana, on May 30, 1896. He made his career in Hollywood, working in the film industry as a screenwriter, editor, director, and producer. Robert K. Haas (1890-1964) was an American publisher who created the Book of the Month Club with Harry Scherman in 1926. He also founded New Books, Inc.
